Garage Door Parts and Repairs
Commonly Replaced Garage Door Parts
Steel vs Nylon
At Absolute Garage Doors we use nylon rollers because they offer the following advantages for your garage door system:
Different from operating cables, these safety cables run through extension springs and their sole purpose is to keep the extension springs from flying in case they break while at it's point of greatest tension (when the door is closed).
Cast iron Pulleys
If your garage door opens part way and stops, you may have a pulley problem. Our cast iron pulleys are strong and resistant to splits. We recommend replacing cast iron pulleys in a set.
Different from safety cables, operating cables systematically work to help the other moving parts maneuver your door up and down as smoothly as possible. Periodically check your operating cables for any fraying.
Double Loop Springs
Garage Door springs (extension and torsion) come in all different sizes to fit your specific garage door type and size. The most dangerous part to replace, garage door springs should be serviced by a professional garage door technician.
Garage Door Rebuild
You may need a garage door tune up when your panels are in perfect shape but the mechanics prove otherwise. Changing the moving parts will increase the door's longevity until it's time to replace the entire garage door system. Parts may include safety cables, operating cables, extension springs, torsion springs, pulleys, or rollers
